A Study of Biodegradation of Hybrid Bioplastic Films Blend from Manihot and Triticum Biopolymer

Environmental concerns associated with synthetic plastics are detrimental and have made it very crucial to develop biodegradable polymers for commercial industrial uses. This work investigates the biodegradability of starch (biopolymer) based bioplastics through soil burial test (SBT) technique. The biopolymeric films were synthesized from 190 250 µm biopolymer particulates manihot esculenta triticum aestivum. Blends each particle size produced in varied proportions other additives. characterized by physical, physiochemical, thermal, microstructural tests. starch-based was determined a 30 days where topsoil used as source microbial activity. conventional polyethylene film also applied test. bioplastic observed cracks on surface became hard brittle at end testing period. total weight loss 46.55–63.77 % achieved films. LDPE showed no trace macro-structural changes or any reduction throughout research concludes that outperformed ordinary plastic films, they proven be biodegradable; can employed efficiently packaging applications.
